New York Nurse Practitioners is a web-based data system developed by the Center for Health Workforce Studies (CHWS) in collaboration with the New York State Education Department (SED) and the New York State Department of Health (DOH). The data system is designed to provide public access to aggregated information on nurse practitioners (NPs) in New York State.
Since 2015, all NPs in New York State are required by law to provide additional information to the state at the time of their triennial recertification. The requested information primarily focuses on demographic, educational, and practice characteristics and is designed to support more effective health workforce planning in the state. The law also requires that aggregated, de-identified data on NPs be made publicly available and this website was developed to serve as an access point for the NP public use data file.
